getting here

First Baptist Fayetteville is located at the corner of College & Dickson Street. We have several lots that surround the church and the south lot on the corner of Highland and Dickson is reserved especially for our guests. If you park in our guest lot you will come in the entrance to the church where the Information Center is located and where a greeter will assist you in finding your way.

who we are

First Baptist Church Fayetteville has long been known for the variety of people who are members. They represent every social and economic classification, multiple races and nationalities, and every living generation. A scholar, a farmer/carpenter, and a pioneer preacher who founded the church over 165 years ago launched a congregation whose cultural distinctions fade away as they unite together in a common mission to "love God, love fellow believers, and love all people." As an autonomous local church we join with other churches in the Washington-Madison Baptist Association, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention to do together what no one church can do alone.

where we've been

Over the years the church moved from the homes of members to a frame building on College Avenue, to the domed Greek Revival church on the corner of College and Dickson and then to the present building with periodic space additions. Pictures and history of the past and present church buildings reveal the continued commitment of the church to remain in the heart of Fayetteville. The history One Faith, One Hope by Tammi Reed Ledbetter written for the 150 year celebration in 2004 traces distinctive priorities held throughout the years. The pages of this website reveal that First Baptist Church continues to value biblical beliefs, worship, missions and evangelism, fellowship, education/discipleship, and stewardship.

how to join

Express your desire for membership through one of the following means:

  • Profession of faith and baptism: This a a public declaration of making Jesus the Lord of your life followed by baptism.

  • Statement: We also receive members upon their statement of faith in Jesus Christ and scriptural baptism.
